Welcome to the Official St. Louis Fan Club Website

JOIN US AT THE CELEBRATION!

The St. Louis Auto Racing Fan Club is joining forces with POWRi the weekend of June 25-26, 2010 to celebrate the 75th Anniversary of the first Midget race in St. Louis held January 1935.
POWRi is holding a big 2 day show that weekend at Belle-Clair Speedway and the Fan Club is a big part of the happenings.

Friday Night, June 25, will be St. Louis Auto Racing Fan Club Night with free admission for members when they show their membership ID card at the ticket office. In addition, the Fan Club will be in charge of the 50/50 drawing that night and proceeds will go to the Fan Club.  There will be some Vintage Race Cars that will take a few laps of the track and interviews with some of the area “Old Timers” who have raced midgets at Belle-Clair through the years.  The show will be a full combination Midget & Micro program.

Saturday, June 26, will be an afternoon of fun before a night of fun.  Beginning at 3:00 p.m. the 3rd Annual Fan Club Members Only Get together will begin under the porch of the Convention Hall on the grounds. If you have memorabilia or pictures or memories to share, this is a good time and place to do so.  We will have some tables to spread them out for all to see. Bring your lawn chairs for relaxing.  As in the past we will have refreshments.  Again, remember this is for members  only and no new member signups will be held that afternoon.  We will not have the people or the time to do this. There is no charge for members for the Get Together.

In addition to the FC deal, POWRi has arranged for a Vintage Race Car display, some of whom will be coming from Indiana and some locals.  We are looking to have 15 to 20 cars on display. Some of those cars will be taking a few laps during the evening as time permits.  Thanks to David Kovac for spearheading this effort.  The I-70 Quarter Midget guys will have a tent with their house car on display.  Bruce “Moose” Loyd will be doing a remote radio broadcast from the grounds up until race time.  Under a large tent will be the play toy to end all play toys: Race Simulators!  For $5 you and your buddies can race against each other to see who is the best of the best.   The POWRi Souvenir Trailer will also be on hand to get you the latest in racing t-shirts, caps, die-cast, and other good POWRi stuff.

One attraction I haven’t mentioned yet is a project Kenny Brown has been working on for a while.  He thinks the arrangements are just about done to bring Jack Hewitt and his 2 Seater Sprint Car on Saturday for rides around the track.  The plan is to raffle off rides around Bell-Clair with Jack in the Sprint Car.  Does this sound like a blast or what!  At this point it is still tentative.

The Fan Club will again be raising funds by doing the 50/50 on Saturday Night. We will need some volunteers to help sell the 50/50 tickets both nights and to sell the special Souvenir Program (you will want one of these for your self)  Please volunteer with Sandi Pezold either before Saturday, or when you get to the track.

And finally, the Midget Feature will be a 75 lapper in celebration of the 75th Anniversary.  It has been a long time since the midgets have run a race of that length at Belle-Clair.  It should be a wowser!
Read the flyer at the end of this article to remind you of all the things planned to celebrate the 75th Anniversary of the first Midget Race in St. Louis and make plans to be there and encourage your friends to come also.  See Ya there!!!
